Literature Text

"Wake up, the captain starts the landing soon", your mother said and bumped your side gently. You awoke and jumped, but then you remembered where you were. You tried to look through the blurry window but saw only an endless amount of clouds hanging above the ground.
In case there actually was ground underneath.

“Dear passengers, we’ll prepare to land on Oslo’s airport. Please fasten your seatbelts. Thank you for the flight, and enjoy your stay in Norway.”

“You heard that, honey. Fasten your seatbelt.”

“I’m not an idiot”, you bridled. You weren’t a brainless little brat anymore, but it was really difficult for your parents to understand that.

“Are you nervous?” your mom asked, trying to be comforting, which only annoyed you more.

“No, I’m not”, you answered too quickly.

She didn’t mind of your annoyed tone of voice and nodded. “It will turn out all right.”

“What?” Old commonplaces didn’t really help in making your mood better.

"Nervousness."

“Like I said, I’m not afraid”, you said absently, staring at the clouds. Captain started landing in that particular moment and the plane curved lower. You felt the change of atmospheric pressure in your ears and hoped that you had taken chewing gum with you. You approached the clouds with a high speed, until the ground underneath you was revealed. It looked very stern and desert from above. Well, Norway was quite a mountainous country after all. It wasn’t a bad thing at all, but you were still quite nervous. How would you survive in a country of which you didn’t know much beforehand? In a country whose language sounded weird and you didn’t understand a word of it?

Time would tell also that.

After the taxi driver had given you the change and thanked with an unusual English accent, you were in front of a huge school building with your suitcase and parents. From the outside the school reminded you from your homeland’s schools, but there were no familiar flags in the poles.

“Well, here it is! Your guide, or in another words, the principal of the school should be here any moment”, your dad stretched his legs after a numbing flight. Soon a bit distractible-looking but truly friendly woman walked down the stairs.

Velkommen! Sorry for the delay, a meeting bolted a bit…” she explained and shook hands with everyone. When it was your turn to shake hands with her, the woman smiled in an even more friendly way, if that was possible. “You must be ______, am I right?”

You tried to brush off the marks of tiredness from your smile. “Yes, I am.”

“Great! But you have to be very tired after a long flight… I’ll leave the introduction for tomorrow”, Rinda, as she introduced herself, explained when leading the way. Luckily she left off useless speeches, you applauded in your mind. Flying wasn’t always the easiest way to travel.

“First we shall meet your host who’s now on the first year class. Your host was very kind and chose to stay and wait for us”, Rinda explained when she walked along the school’s wide corridors, high heels clopping. You followed her with your parents, even though it was demanding with all of your suitcases. You noticed that your pulse rose momentarily.

I wonder who my host is. A girl or a boy? Super social happy-cheery-go or something else?

~

Lukas leaned onto the school’s wall, glancing at his watch. The exchange student should be there soon.

Maybe this was a mistake, to let Tino persuade me to accommodate a stranger from the other side of the world…

I won’t necessarily get along with that guy.

Then Tino’s optimistic sentence “You can never know before you try it out” felt at least ridiculous.

I wonder how this will turn out after all…

The stream of Lukas’s thoughts was interrupted when the doorknob was pressed down and a group of people stepped into the room.

Here we go, he thought and straightened his posture.

~

The principal didn’t keep her promise about talking less as she had managed to tell every frivolous fact from the school’s history to her own childhood and your host’s school performance.

All that within 150 meters.

You already knew something of that man (yes, the host was a male), including that he was very good at what he studied. It was actually a good sign: the guy was smart. Hopefully that intelligence was also something else than just bookish kind.

“Come in, he’s waiting for us”, the principal explained excitedly when she opened the door whose behind your host was. You stepped in right after the woman, gazing around.

“Lukas, here’s _____. _____, may I introduce you your host Lukas”, Rinda presented, following your reactions from aside.

The man made you freeze right where you were, on the doorway. He was quite slim, average tall young man, but that’s where those average features ended. His skin was pale as sheets (what might have been quite common in Norway, when one paid attention to country’s parallel of latitude), hair as flax and the eyes… Those eyes were mystically dark violet as jewels. And their gaze laid right on you.

After a little while you awoke when all present people looked at you inquiringly.

“Ah! Sorry!” you snapped and took a step closer for shaking hands with him.

“It’s nothing”, Lukas said, a slight tone of sympathy in his voice. When you shook hands with him, you jumped because of the power of the electric shock and that loosened a chuckle from the adults around you.

“This will be a great year, believe me boys”, the principal smiled.

When your parents finally had gone to the reserved hotel, you were relieved at first. Why did they complain of tiredness? No one forced them on an escort trip over the country’s borders. When you were left alone with the Norwegian guy, you were both quiet. It was about the worst-case scenario you were afraid to happen. You didn’t know if the was man only indifferent or if he stressed as much as you did.

He was one of that kind of people who were masters at creating a poker face if they wanted so.

The man called Lukas, if you remembered right, drove through the center towards a more quiet housing estate. The radio played on the background silently, but you didn’t get a single word of what the anchorman explained.

Norwegian is indeed an interesting language…

If only I could understand something of it.

“So, why did you decide to come to Norway to study?” the young man broke the silence. You pondered for a while of what to answer. Was that only a rhetorical question where he expected no answer, you couldn’t tell. Or was he only curious?

Because you had hesitated for too long, you decided to just answer tamely.

“Eh… I decided to try something more exotic.”

"What that exotic do you expect to find in Norway?” Again a new, confusing question.

“Different people…?”

“If you’re either Norwegian or American, it doesn’t necessarily change your basic needs or biological features so greatly”, he answered, as if he was needling you.

This will indeed be an amazing year… you sighed in your mind.

Lukas supposedly noticed that his joke didn’t work and shut up for the rest of the ride.

“Well… You’ll live the next year in an apartment like this”, Lukas said when throwing off his shoes and recommended you to do the same. “Do you feel like eating something?” he asked.

You shook your head. You had eaten your own snacks during the flight until they had ran out. Lukas guided you around the apartment quickly but noticed soon that you weren’t able to focus on listening anymore.

“I guess you’ve got bothered enough for today”, he concluded and helped you carry your suitcases to your room. It was quite a classy quest room, neutrally decorated compared to his own room.

“Sleep as much as you need to, there’s no school tomorrow”, Lukas guided from the doorway before he went to take care of his own things.

You didn’t even bother to change your clothes when you slumped onto bed, falling asleep quicker than ever before.

~

”Well, what is he like?” Tino asked curiously from the other side of the line. “I want to know!”

The Norwegian huffed from frustration. “He has been in here only for a couple of hours, how could I have gotten to know him during this time?”

“Calm down, silly! I’m just damn curious, as you should know”, the Finn laughed lightly. Lukas rubbed his temple frustratedly. “Hey, I know that you stress about how you two will get along, but relax. It doesn’t get any better by stressing”, Tino comforted his friend.

"I know, but…"

"But what?"

“I’m afraid of not being able to be a good host for him”, Lukas admitted.

“I guess you’ll be”, Tino cheered. “But I gotta go, see you!”

“Bye…” Lukas said to the mute line.

I wish I could just stop stressing about everything…

The man wondered if his guest was still sleeping, and decided to check it out. When peeking from the door he noticed that the guest wasn’t even under the covers but snorted right next to the cover instead. Lukas smiled at the funny sight and decided to put the cover on him.

He could get along well with Mathias…

Or cause a double disaster.

“My, my Lukas. What have you stepped into...” he scolded himself and closed the guest room’s door as quietly as possible.

~

That dream was very weird. You were jumping around your hometown’s roads when you saw a guest on your door. The figure was standing his back towards you and hung around with no hurry.

“Excuse me, but what are you looking for?” you asked fearlessly.

The man turned around, examining you with his gaze. For some reason you didn’t recognize him even though there was something familiar about him. “I’d like to borrow some matches, do you have any?”

“S-sure! Just a moment…” you said and went looking for matches from the kitchen. You didn’t find them anywhere, it was as if they were hiding from you.

After useless searching you had no choice but to return to the man with empty hands. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t find them… I can’t understand where they could have ended up. They were on the table just a moment ago.”

He nodded and offered: “I can help you with searching, if you want.”

"That would be awesome."

Hey, poppets~

Phew… I finally managed to publish the first part of :icondeathravager:’s request. I wrote this over three months ago, but suddenly I “didn’t have time” for this anymore. I was just too damn lazy during my summer holiday. Well, here it finally is. Hope I wrote it in a way you wish me to write, hun.

I guess I won’t do this too yaoish… I wrote just as I see how two strangers would react in such situations, nothing else. So don't expect me to write a lemon part.

Actually, after the first two pages this was quite easy to write. I got an idea how the story would go, and I just wrote and wrote. It turned out quite good, or what do you think?

I’m not quite sure how long this request will be, but we’ll see it then. Next part comes out when it comes out, probably sooner than this one.

I’m so happy to publish something after a long break. Seems like I finally won my lazyass side~

But as always, I’d like to hear your opinions about my story this far. Feedback is warmly welcome. (Even if it’s about grammar, please, tell me if there’s something incorrect. I read recently my Ciel-story again and noticed three editing mistakes... I wonder why anyone didn't mention it. People did faved it, but that's it...)

I guess we’ll see in the next part, peace out~ Have a wonderful day:heart:
